Community of Hausa Fulani in Tingno Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State has lost a total of 73 members prior to the action intended to cause destruction that erupted in two places of Tingno town .
The wide spread fighting escalated out between the Hausa-Fulani community and Chobo neighbors on May 15, resulting to death and destruction of valuable properties and lives.
The Community, held a press briefing at the state capital Yola on Thursday. They stated that it lost 58 people in series of killings in Tingno town and 15 others in the neighboring Chito-Tudu and Chito-Gangare villages.
Spokesman of the Hausa-Fulani Community, Alhaji Aliyu Tingno, who expressed himself in the briefing Thursday afternoon, alleged that the police punished unjustly the community because the police arrested 57 people from there side but they arrested none from the Chobo community.
In his words he said “The State Police Command arrested and put into there custody 57 innocent Hausa-Fulanis which the state Commissioner of Police displayed 18 at the police headquarters in Yola before journalists as culprits on 1st of June 2020.”
He we went further to say that the police did this that the Chobos that attacked and killed Hausa-Fulanis and brought to utmost destruction their properties in Tingno, Chito villages and others respectively
Reacting to the allegations Thursday evening, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said arrest made were very vital and necessary though its still undergoing series of investigation.
Therefore the police gave the community assurance that those who were prosecuted that none would be prosecuted unfairly.
He also that the state government had set up a investigative committee, which would see that the truth surrounding these attacks and incidents will be to light and those behind the acts will be prosecuted.
