1. BREAKING: Nigeria records 566 new cases of Corona virus, as total cases reaches 25,133
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Monday, announced 566 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 25,133.
The centre announced this via its official Twitter handle.
It said that the 566 new confirmed cases were from 20 states, with eight deaths as of June 29.
The health agency added that no new state reported a case in the past 24 hours.
The NCDC said that Lagos reported the highest number of cases with 166 new cases, followed by Oyo which reported 66 new infections.
Amongst others were Delta 53, Ebonyi 43, Plateau 34, Ondo 32, FCT 26, Ogun 25, Edo 24, Imo 15, Bayelsa 13, Benue 12, Gombe 11, Kano 11, Kaduna 11, Osun 8, Nasarawa 7, Borno 5, Katsina 2, and Anambra 2.
The NCDC said till date, 25,133 cases had been confirmed, out of which 15, 256 were active cases, and 9,402 being treated and discharged cases.
According to the centre, 132, 304 samples have been collected while 573 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Meanwhile, NCDC has said that with the absence of a vaccine, non- pharmaceutical interventions such as the use of face masks, physical distancing and hand hygiene remain the most effective strategy to limit COVID-19 spread.
It added thatwith the ongoing community transmission of COVID-19, it had become imperative for Nigerians to #TakeResponsibility by adhering to all recommended measures.
2. Katsina State convoy accident: Nigerian army commiserates with family of victim

The Nigerian Army has commiserated with the family of a 75-years-old man who died in a road traffic accident involving the convoy of the Commander, 17 Brigade in Katsina on Monday.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, in a statement on Tuesday, identified the victim as Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim of Filin Samji, who was riding on a motorcycle in Katsina.
Musa said the incident occurred when the vehicles went to refuel and were expected to pick up the Brigade commander later.
According to him, a delegation of the Nigerian Army led by the Brigade commander has visited the family to commiserate with them and will be fully involved in the burial.
3. Abia no more God’s Own State, but Miyetti Allah Cattle Market says Nnamdi Kanu
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Monday alleged that Abia State has changed from Gods Own State to Miyetti Allah owned cattle market.
In a statement, titled: “Finally the reason why they initiated Operation Python Dance and proscription of IPOB become very clear.” made available to newsmen through IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, Nnamdi Kanu, all alleged that the more Miyetti Allah terrorists kill the people of Abia and South East in general in their own land, the more the so-called governors are prepared to give to them more land.
Nnamdi Kanu also blamed Ohaneze Ndigbo for the alleged borrowing the people of Southeast are going through in the hands of the hands of the Miyetti Allah terrorists pretending to be herdsmen.

4. FRSC to create special task force on drivers licence and vehicle number plates
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is to create a special task force for enforcement of vehicle number plates and driver’s license to sanitize driving culture in Rivers state, an official has disclosed.
The new Sector Commandant in the state, Corps Commander Salisu Galadunci, made this known during a visit to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Mr. Tammy Danagogo, on Monday in Port Harcourt.
He said the initiative would ensure the safety of lives and property for road users as well as enhance revenue generation for the state.
Galadunci also commended the state government on its various contributions towards the services of the command.
“I am aware of the cordial relationship with us, the latest being the donation of five new JAC brand of Pick-Up vehicles to the command.
“I promise to further build on this relationship to enhance sanity in the driving culture of residents of the state,” Galadunci said.
The Sector Commander also said that the Replacement Machine Centre for Number Plate has been established in the state, adding that provision of office accommodation would enhance it quick commencement.
Responding, Danagogo expressed delight over the laudable programmes envisioned by the new Sector Commander and applauded him on his readiness to serve.
He also said that Gov. Nyesome Wike has approved to assist the Corps in setting up the Replacement Machine Centre for Number Plate.
