The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has been a big blow to the face of the earth as it has claimed a lot of lives and proving eager to claim more.
Social distancing, one of the fruitful strategies in preventing the fast spread of this virus has been maintained at all cost and as a result of that, lockdown though now lifted partially and closure of schools was ordered and enacted by the FG.
The good news is this, the novel pandemic can never stay forever, even if no vaccine or cure is discovered. All it shall take is time and it shall be recorded in the book of past events.
A lot of several other pandemics deadlier than the coronavirus have struck the face of the earth when the world was still blind enough to not know what vaccine means, yet they were conquered so coronavirus won't be different.
However, should be kept at the back of our minds that life will never return to what it used to be till coronavirus completely fades away. But how do we thrive to continue living while it is yet to be subdued.
School resumption has been a sole wish of most individuals as they are so fed up of staying home and people who earn through schools are also in bankruptcy.
Schools were closed in a bid to contain the virus and minimize the spread and since then there yet seems not to have any heart gladdening news as to the resumption date. This is because the number of cases are escalating and it doesn't look safe allowing our children to go out there when their safety is not assured.
Before school shall resume, here are 2 things that must have taken place, otherwise school resumption shall remain a pipe dream.
There must be a reduction in the number of new cases.
School cannot open when when cases rises everyday in geometric progression. It is pretty certain that our children must surely get among the statistics. Even if everyone goes to school with facemask, we should not forget that we often have a large number of students in classes. It is possible that those in hour institutions and higher secondary may be mature enough to take heed but what about our little children? This should be put into consideration before blaming the government for restraining from opening schools.
Interstate lockdown must be lifted
If school resumption gets announced when interstate lockdown is still on, how do students who school outside their states get to attend classes?. These are things that must be put into consideration by any good leader before embarking on such a decision and I am sure this is among the reasons our president is the best among his contenders.
