Groups partner to counter misinformation on COVID-19 in Nigeria


CONCERNED about the rapid spread of misinformation about COVID-19, Nigeria Health Watch and Meedan have teamed up to counter the trend of the pandemic and other public health issues.

The spread of disinformation during outbreaks is a global problem and has been identified as such by the World Health Organization. False or misleading information about prevention, treatment and cure can be dangerous for public health, causing confusion and panic. There is therefore an urgent need to work together to combat widespread disinformation, as governments tackle the dual epidemic of disinformation and COVID-19.
